Article extract:
Coaches are recognised world-wide as valuable contributors and significant influencers in the physical, psychological and social development of children, adolescents and adults, and by extension, communities. The importance of the role of the community coach has been recognised by international sport organisations such as the International Council for Coaching Excellence (ICCE), International Olympic Committee (IOC) and Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASIOF) as well as national sporting organisations in Australia and in many other countries.
In recognition of the role of the community coach these national sport organisations and their state affiliates have endeavoured to implement robust coach development systems to support both enhanced sport participation and better individual/team performance.
