The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) updated its rules and equipment rules which became valid as of October 1st 2022. Many changes were made, and to assist readers, the changes have been segmented and interpretations provided on their website.
The changes to the rules include:
- Changed the competition levels from three to two
- Revised the equipment requirements for the two levels
- Allowed non-FIBA-certified equipment to undergo onsite testing to gain temporary approval
- Recommended always installing safety straps to ceiling-mounted structures
- Revised scoreboard protocols for level 1 scoreboards
- Revised advertising board requirements
- Updated wooden and glass flooring requirements
